Dyslexia Awareness Month
October 13 - October 15
Dyslexia is a learning disability that is neurological in origin and known to run in families making it difficult to
learn how to read, write and spell. According to the National Institutes of Health, as many as one in five students
has dyslexia. In Oregon, this equates to over 115,000 public school students with dyslexia. October is Dyslexia
Awareness Month! Local organizations are coming together to celebrate our amazing students with dyslexia by
lighting the Morrison Bridge RED! Celebrate with us and help our kids with dyslexia (who often see red marks on
their schoolwork) take back this color and be proud of their strengths.
In honor of those with dyslexia and their families the entire bridge will be RED.
